About Me

Welcome to Mr. Frank’s Think Tank Math Tutoring! My name is Jake Frank and I was born and raised in Carol Stream, Illinois. All these years later, I’m ecstatic to be serving my community today! Upon graduating from Glenbard North High School in 2012, I attended Loras College and received my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in 2016. I then proceeded to work as Web Developer for the next 5 years. In the fall of 2020, I realized that I was tired of sitting at a desk all day and I wanted to find a way to get involved in my community. With this in mind, I decided to pursue a Masters degree in Middle Grades Education. I’ve since received my Master’s, worked with high schoolers as an AVID college prep tutor and substitute teacher, and I’ve spent one year in the classroom as a 7th grade math teacher.

It is common for children to struggle with Math. I understand how frustrating it can be when your child feels lost during class and then aren’t able to complete their homework. I believe that everyone can be successful in Math class. In most cases, students just need the opportunity to build confidence in their mathematical abilities. This is what makes me so excited about tutoring! By working with students in a 1 on 1 or small group setting, I can use my teaching skills to address your child’s individual needs and start building their confidence in the arena of mathematics. My mission is to help students to realize their abilities and no longer feel dread about their math classes.

Levels of Teaching

I am licensed to teach 5th – 8th grades though I am capable of working with students in grades K-12. I’ve taught 6th grade math, Pre Algebra, and Algebra as a classroom teacher. I have tutored students at the high school level in Algebra II, Geometry, and Trigonometry.

I offer regular, personalized tutoring in Math. I am proficient in K-5 math, Middle School Math (Pre Algebra), Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Trigonometry.

Tutoring Options

My tutoring rate is $60 per hour. Each tutoring session is tailored to meet your child’s needs. Sessions are typically held in 30, 45, or 60 minute increments.

Group Sessions can be arranged upon request.

I have an office located across the street from the Dupage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, IL where I can host our tutoring sessions. I’m also open to meeting in a public space such as the library. I find that students focus much better and get more work done outside of their own home!
