Maine Backpacking Trip

Follow Paul, Jake, and Hayden as they hike the 100 mile wilderness from May 18th to May 24th

On May 17th we are flying to Bangor, Maine. We are then driving a rental car to Abol Bridge which is the finish line for this expedition. A shuttle service will then pick us up at Abol Bridge and drive us ~100 miles south to Monson, Maine where we will spend the night at the Lakeshore House Lodge & Pub. On Saturday May 18th, we will hopefully have one last hearty breakfast before getting dropped off at the Appalachian Trail Greenville Road Trailhead right next to Spectacle Ponds. This begins 7 days of backpacking through remote wilderness. We are covering 100 miles which comes out to about 14.5 miles per day though we’d like to do a little bit extra early so the last day is a quick and easy hike out. The biggest concerns for the trips are crossing swollen rivers and dealing with dense populations of black flies. Paul, Hayden, and Jake have all been working out really hard in preparation for this trip. The boys are ready to go!

Hayden is bringing a Garmin GPSMap 66i device which uses GPS technology to track us during the trip. Below is a map that shows our progress during the trip. This way friends and family can follow along. The device pings every 30 minutes with an update.
